NCBellydance.org's mission is to help promote teachers and performers in North Carolina, and that includes helping you to advertise your special events and workshops.
Because there has been such an enthusiastic response to our ad space, I have created a FAQ to answer your most frequently asked questions.
Q. How much does it cost to advertise on NCBellydance.org?
A. We accept donations to NCBellydance.org as thanks for displaying the ad.
- Main page ads: we suggest a donation of $40 a month
- Calendar page ads: we suggest a donation of $30 a month
- Class Schedule page ads for teachers: we suggest a donation of $25 a month.
All ads can be pro-rated if you want to run your ad less than a full month.
(We also accept barter arrangements at our discretion, such as free or reduced price workshops, merchandise, show tickets, classes, gift certificates, massage therapy, etc.)
To keep this in perspective: this is less than the cost of one student in a monthly class, a half of one workshop registration, and less than a third of a typical performance engagement. If you get just one person or gig from this ad, you will have paid for the cost of advertising.
100% charity events (where all proceeds are donated to charity) will be advertised at no charge, as space permits.
Q. Who am I reaching with my ad?
A. You are reaching a targeted audience who enjoys North Carolina bellydance, as well as Middle Eastern music, dance and culture. This is your core target to reach potential students, audience members, clients, and customers. For the month of August 2008 alone, NCBellydance was accessed over 109,000 times so your ad will get a lot of exposure in the community.
Q. Are there any requirements I need to meet in order to place an ad on NCBellydance.org?
A. Yes, your ad must meet the following criteria:
- Workshops and other special events advertised must take place in the Carolinas or have some kind of Carolina connection. Vendors and businesses must be located in the Carolinas.
- Ads must be on topic, relating specifically to some aspect of Middle-Eastern dance, music, or arts. We will not accept 'random' ads for cel phones, tobacco, hair gel, etc.
- It can be any shape, but the suggested max height and max width is 400 pixels. (I can resize a larger ad down to fit as needed.)
- Ads must be suitable for all ages and audiences.
- The ad graphic must be in a suitable web format - no PDFs please! (If you don't have a fancy ad graphic created already, and no means to create one, I can create a simple no-frills text listing with picture for you).
Q. When will my ad go up?
A. Within 24 hours of receiving the ad and the donation to ncbellydance.
Q. On what page(s) of the site will my ad be placed?
A. Ads can go anywhere on the site (you can even place it on more than one page if you like). The three most popular pages are the main page, the upcoming events calendar, and the workshops calendar.
Q. When you have a lot of ads, how do you decide what goes where?
A. Event Ads are organized chronologically. Product Ads will be placed in the far right side of each row of ads.
Q. I want to advertise, but I don't have any way of making a cool ad graphic - I just have text and a picture. Can I still advertise on the site?
A. Yes! I can type out a low-tech no-frills text listing for you and include your picture.
Q. How can I make a donation to NCBellydance.org to thank you for displaying my ad?
A. The easiest and fastest way to donate online is by using Paypal/credit card:
Or email Haala to get mailing address to send a check or money order.
Q. Where do I email my ad?
A. Email haala@ncbellydance.org.
Q. I have other questions I need to ask.
A. Email haala@ncbellydance.org and I'll be happy to help guide you through this process!
